My Mess in Life

I want you to really think on what God says here: ”So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for Him. Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what He wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you.”

Many of us know Romans 12:1-2 but when I read it in The Message it really hit home.  I realize that anything of this earth is nothing without God.  Looking at this phrase, “everyday, ordinary life…” God is saying to me, that He wants to be involved in every part of my life.  I don’t need to depend on others to show me the way.  God is interested in the smallest part of my life…THAT MEANS ALL OF ME!  It is so easy to get caught up in everything around you.  This life is okay but I don’t need to accept what the influences of this world tell me is right.  Daily influences can be extremely negative and can pull me down.  Instead, I want what God wants for me, and I’m ready for whatever it takes to be mature in God.

The other statement to focus on is that I am to “fix MY attention on God.” This reminds me…the earth is my temporary home. I know with certainty that I am God’s daughter and I need to focus my attention on Him.  I can’t wait until it is my turn to go home to be with my Heavenly Father. How about you? To finally understand all the questions I have here on earth will be revealed to me.  To not have to worry about my next paycheck, where I’m going to live, what I’m going to eat, or if I’m going to wake up with that painful body once again.

All I have to do is “recognize what He wants from ME, and quickly respond to it.”  I say what joy to be forever with God.  Dear reader…you should be jumping with joy as you prayerfully absorb every bit of what this verse is saying to your heart.  Take in all the blessings and be thankful.  I am; you should be too!
