There have been so many times that I pray for an overwhelming hunger to know God more intimately. The problem is that instead of going to Him and His Word, satan puts something in my path to shift my focus away from God. I am embarrassed to say this happens more than I would like to admit. When this happens, I encourage you to ask God for help. He will descend down from the heavens and scoop you up and hold you tight. He will then help you shift your eyes swiftly back to His face. Just ask; He is waiting for you.
“Lord, you have created me with spiritual hungers, cravings that are not easily satisfied. Help me to resist the temptation to stuff myself with cheap substitutes, and, instead, help me to pursue You as the source of my life. When I am tempted to turn stones to bread through my own power, give me courage to trust Your Word so that it will nourish my soul.”
